Katie joined the Hartford Healthcare Center for Healthy Aging in 2017 as a Transitional Care Nurse engaging geriatric clients and their families in home assessments towards a culture of health. She earned her BSN degree at Saint Anselm College in 2009 and MSN degree with focus in Public Health Nursing at University of Hartford in 2015 with 3.96 GPA.   Upon graduation, Katie was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and presented with the Graduate Regent award for College of Education, Nursing, and Health Professions.  Katie is proud to have contributed to the Health Policy Proposal for HB 6157, An Act Concerning Medicaid Therapy with the Farmington Valley Medication Reconciliation Community of Care and State Representative Theresa Conroy in 2015.

Katie’s clinical experience includes eight years at Hartford Hospital in the pulmonary-medical floor/stepdown and cardiac critical care unit.  Her drive to influence through policy and advocacy is evident through her publication.  In 2022, Katie was recognized through a citation by the Connecticut General Assembly for being a tireless advocate for the Public Health of CT’s Residents and the Nursing Profession from State Representative Gary Turco.  She is an active member of the Connecticut Nurses Association (CNA) and American Nurses Association. Most recently, she represented CT in the American Nurses Advocacy Institute for 2021-2022. She continues to serve in the CNA’s Government Relations Committee and formerly in the Nominations Committee before accepting role of Secretary for CNA in 2022.
