CT Nurses Speak Up.

CT Nurses have a long history of standing up, advocating for nurses, healthcare and the health of the public. Since our inception in 1904, when nurses in CT gathered to create the first nurse practice act in CT, that passed in the 1905 legislative session, nurses in CT have played an important role in the legislative sessions. We continue with that tradition, supported the creation of Health Assistance InterVention Education Network for the impaired nurse, in 1997 removed supervision from the APRN, and in 2014 reduced the collaborative practice agreement to 3 years/2000 hours. We have promoted safety practices, such as seat belt laws, removal of toxic chemicals from our environment, safety of our water, food and air; we have advocated for affordable and accessible health care services.
