INTERIM CHAIR, GOVERNMENT RELATIONS COMMITTEE

Stephanie McGuire, MS, APRN, NP-BC

Contact Information: Info@ctnurses.org 203-238-1207

Stephanie has been a neonatal nurse at heart since completing her BSN at Towson University.  NICU nursing in Maryland, Montana, and Virginia led her to pursue the neonatal nurse practitioner tract with a MS from the University of Maryland at Baltimore.  As a bedside clinician at a Connecticut NICU and on neonatal transport throughout her career, she has remained committed to hands-on patient and family care.  Her passion has been supporting the breastfeeding dyad in extenuating circumstances and for years was certified as an IBCLC.

Stephanie’s activities in professional organizations have included the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) and its regional chapter, the New England Association of Neonatal Nurses (NEANN).  She has served as NEANN’s chairperson of the education planning committee and most recently on the NEANN board.

In her role with the Connecticut Nurses’ Association, Stephanie has served on the Government Relations committee and now as the Interim Chairperson.  Her activities are supported by her attendance at the American Nurses Association Advocacy Institute (ANAI).  Through CNA she represents nurses on the Health Assistance Intervention Education Network (HAVEN) interdisciplinary Board of Directors. Her work has included investigating the readiness of CT to pursue nursing compact licensure.  Her ongoing desire is to promote political awareness and activism on pertinent issues throughout the nursing community.
