    Nurses are strongly encouraged to attend with the Director of the Early Care and Education program in their school. Learning together deepens the understanding of each other's expertise and allows a common platform for future collaboration!

    During this streamlined event we will explore the role of the school nurse with district run pre-k, early care and education programs. Through an exploration of the early childhood period, and the goals of early care and education, the nurse will examine her role in supporting health and safety of the young child. The nurses will gain specific knowledge about best practices, areas of focus, resources and strategies to support programs.  The nurse will gain knowledge and strengthen her ability to promote best practices to support the health and safety of children within early childhood settings.

    Participants must attend all day conference, complete all assignments and evaluation form in order to receive a certificate of completion.

    Who should attend this event:

    • School Nurse Supervisors
    • School Nurses responsible for pre-K programs
    • Pre K Program Directors working in a school district
    • Education managers of PreK programs in a school district

    Participants will :

    • Describe the importance of addressing health to support learning, growth and development in early care and education programs
    • Identify tools and resources to support early childhood programs in health and safety topics (nutrition, physical activity, managing infectious disease and more)
    • Describe activities to support quality, health and safety enhancement strategies
    • Consider the differences between early childhood and school age children and their health, safety and learning needs.

    6 continuing nursing education contact hours will be awarded to participants
