This abbreviated session is an introduction to health and safety in early care and education.

This training will provide nurses specific knowledge about special considerations for health and safety with the early care and education population. We will explore the role of the nurse in promoting health and safety and collaborating with staff to meet goals.  The health/nurse consultant will gain knowledge and strengthen their ability to promote best practices to support the health and safety of children within early childhood settings.

Participants will :

• Explore tools and resources to support early childhood programs in health and safety
  
• Explore health and safety considerations for very young children in group care settings in contrast to school age children
  
• Explore their role in promoting healthy and safe environments for children and staff
• Explore areas for collaborating with educators
