Description: This professional learning opportunity, designed specifically for NEW school nurses to ensure they have the resources, information and tools to be successful in their role!
Topics will include: an overview of legal requirements, standards of practice and competencies for school nurses, supervisory issues, and the school nurse’s role in student achievement, special education, and academic success. Participants will learn state laws and regulations regarding school health; medication regulations; state mandates for immunizations, health assessments, and screenings; documentation in school health services; special education; Section 504; and supporting students during COVID-19. This orientation training will include the following learning opportunities:
Audience: School nurses, school nurse supervisors, directors of special education/pupil services, school medical advisers, and other school staff
